Top Ten Simpsons Guest Stars: Number 3

Today, we are treated to a Guest Star who’s done many different characters over the years.

Jon Lovitz

Helloooooooo, handsome!

Artie Ziff, Llewellyn Sinclair, Ms. Sinclair, Jay Sherman, Professor Lombardo, Aristotle Amadopoulos, Enrico Irritazio (cameo)

Jay Sherman provoked Homer into one of his best lines, “Barny’s movie has feeling. But football in the groin has football in the groin.” Not to mention he’s just all-round hilarious.
Artie Ziff has provided much laughter through obsession with Marge, and his constant proving how much better he is than Homer. And indeed he has one of the best parodies of “Sweet Dreams”.Whether he doesn’t want people to find out about his ‘busy hands’, bringing out the rage in Marge, running a strict daycare or bashing McBain movies, Jon Lovitz has given us some very memorable episodes of the Simpsons.

And when directing A Streetcar Named Desire, he busted out these hilarious lines:

“Hello! I am Llewellyn Sinclair. I have directed three plays in my career, and I have had three heart attacks. That’s how much I care, I’m planning for a fourth.”

“I am not an easy director to work for. While directing “Hats Off to Hanukkah,” I reduced more than one cast member to tears. Did I expect too much from fourth graders?”

Come to think of it, his characters seem to almost always put Marge at odds with Homer in their relationship. Good work!

In the episode The Ziff Who Came to Dinner (aside from having my favourite couch gag, having some truly genius background shots and some straight up hilarious writing), we get to see all of his characters in a single shot. Well, excluding Artie Ziff who refers to them all as losers. Genius!
