About the Album
Recorded in the summer of 2006 using a bass amp, PowerBook G4, Squire Stratocaster, Squire Jazz Bass, Yamaha Acoustic, a NextTech Microphone, Boss Turbo Distortion DS-2, Cubase and Reason.
Prior to writing and recording the songs for this album I had performed some songs at a school Battle of the Bands where my friend and I had conjured up the name Prototype 17. I asked her what she would name an album if it ever came to that and her reply was Dancing in the Stars With Jesus. Hence, the title. While she had no real part in the writing or recording of this album, I did love the name and decided to use it in the event that we ever did end up going somewhere in life with music.
The recording process involved connecting the headphone slot of the bass amp into the audio in of the PowerBook and having Cubase capture it. At the time I had no idea I could use ReWire to connect Reason to Cubase, so drums and any other software instrument involved exporting wave files from Reason and sequencing them in Cubase. I hope to someday redo some of the songs on here.
The album cover, like all subsequent album covers (with the exception of El Oscuro and to some extent The Vial of Life) had little-to-no thought put into it and was made in 5 seconds in Photoshop or something of the sort.
I was 18 when this was recorded with almost no knowledge of what I was doing aside from some basic musical theory. I had only been playing guitar for a year so the fact that I could even come of with songs let alone play them impresses me. Take them for what they are and for those that know me, feel free to laugh.
