About the Album

This album came at a time when I was extremely prolific and had songs coming out my ears. I had been writing poetry daily some of which were transferred into song form for this album. At the time I was obsessed with the end of the world and found myself writing a lot about it.

The idea for this album was to try to tell the story of a man’s life from birth to the end of the world. The Darkness and The Light are told from the perspective of a child that’s being born, the songs in the middle are mostly about how we take life and the world for granted, finally ending with The Apocalypse.

Musically, I think this album is my best so far. Icarus and I has about five guitar tracks, The Light and Sharon’s Story are done in spoken word, Turnstiles has an electronic break midway through but somehow remains dark and daunting as it tells a tale about someone standing in the middle of a war torn city remembering what the world was before, and Cancer and the title track The Vial of Life remain two of the heaviest songs I’ve recorded. Some of these songs I’d love to revisit and give them the quality treatments they deserve.

If there was any album that I would recommend people to listen past my vocals it would be this one.
