I’m not a huge fan of this series, books or movies, but I definitely enjoyed the last three or four movies. I really can’t stand the first two and this really drives home why the second one sucked so much. I’m pretty sure this is the longest Cinema Sins video and rightfully so.
If you enjoyed this video, check out the Cinema Sins YouTube channel. He’s pretty thorough and doesn’t just pull the mistakes from IMDB. Also, they’re pretty hilarious.
I wanted to post this yesterday, but two things: 1) I forgot, 2) I’m not sure how I feel about it. I personally have no issues with remakes/reboots, they sometimes breath new life in the film and once in a while, they’re better than their original. As much as some people complain about remakes/reboots, I always say that they’re two completely separate movies. The original will always be great and remaking it doesn’t diminish it, it often just goes to show that you don’t fuck with the original.
I’m not the biggest fan of Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 film, but it was good and it certainly shows its age and I’ve always thought it’d be cool to bring it to the 21st century. Robocop 2 had its moments and I’ve either blanked Robocop 3 from memory or never gave it the time of day. This new one however looks like it could suffer the same fate as the remake of Total Recall since you immediately see that they’ve destroyed his origin from being shot a million times to a car bomb that isn’t necessarily all the violent to watch. I watched Robocop for the first time in first year university (6 years ago at this point) and that scene was so brutal I think I actually looked away.
What do you think about it? Does it look promising? Is it going to bomb and ruin any fond memories you might have had of Robocop? Let me know in the comments or hit me up on twitter @ryan_boudreau.
This was an interesting little tidbit of potential. A character that appears in both X-Men and the Avengers is said to be in the script for Avengers 2, and some legal mumbo jumbo about Fox owning the rights to the character could lead to some co-operation between the two. Last year Marvel put out a mini series called Avengers Vs X-Men (AVX as they called it), which was actually pretty awesome with the exception of some cheesy dialogue and an expected conclusion, that would be interesting to see integrated into film. Given that the X-men movies already had the Phoenix in some form, it would be cool if it were to come to earth again, as it does in the comics, as a sign of salvation for the mutants but a giant threat to humanity meaning the Avengers would be tasked with destroying it. Wouldn’t be far off from what’s already started. Anyway, here’s a news video from IGN with more details for your mental masturbation purposes. Nerd.
Some actors are crazy talented. Some crazy. Some both. These actors fall into the both category risking their health jumping from weight to weight. Check out this top ten list of actor transformations from WatchMojo.
I bought new headphones this month. Some beats by dr dre. They’re pretty freaking awesome for ear buds, but I feel like I paid about $30 too much still. Here’s what’s been filling them this month. Continue reading →
Continuing in the spirit of last month, I present to you yet another edition of Ryan’s Rockin’. Unfortunately school has prevented me from thinking up of a better banner, so we’re stuck with this awful shit banner for now. Even though it shows two of the most awesome characters ever conceived, it’s still lame. Anyway, on with it:
This is a new monthly piece I’m going to start doing. I’m calling it Ryan’s Rockin’. Basically what it will be is a list of games, music and movies I’m looking forward to as well as games I’m currently playing and the music I’m listening to. When I can, I’ll link to iTunes for previews/purchases of music. Doing this gives me an opportunity to share with you what’s been entertaining me without feeling obliged to do full reviews. I might eventually add comics, but as it stands right now, I read Batman and whatever looks cool when I go to the store. Forgive the lame header, I’ll change it something cooler when I put more though into this.
This past weekend I was looking for a bit of fright to add to my evening, so my girlfriend and I went out to see Devil. And while it had its moments, I wasn’t really left with a lasting feeling of fear and felt more conflicted about whether I should be scared or not. Continue reading →
